Poems

This poem was written by someone new to the study of Christian Science while serving a prison sentence.

In my Father's eyes

From the December 1998 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In my Father's eyes
I am free
From false claims
Of mortality.
As the offspring of Spirit
I am spiritual.

In my Father's eyes I reflect
His own qualities
Of truthfulness, loveliness, and beauty.

In my Father's eyes
My life is pristine
My heart is pure
My thoughts are clean.

I am of the first fruit
In His eyes.
For He has created me
With authority.
He has looked upon me
With light
To shine among my brothers
To rejoice within His sight.

Whenever I encounter
Opposition, false opinions,
I turn to Truth
I turn to Love
To find myself
And all of life
Perfect!
—In my Father's eyes.
