Letters

From the April 1998 issue of The Christian Science Journal

As a Christian, raised in Tennessee and West Virginia, I never felt complete and fulfilled by the messages concerning God. It was only after discovering Christian Science, at the suggestion of my voice teacher in New York, that I understood more clearly my relationship to a loving and generous rather than a vengeful God.

I have always believed in God, but I don't think I trusted God in the sense that Christian Scientists do. Like many young people venturing from small towns, I came to New York to seek a singing career, although I knew, instinctively, that it would not be easy "getting in the door" of show business. Well, it didn't work out as I'd hoped, but I have learned important lessons and have retained my faith in God despite the many disappointments.

I am especially grateful for the articles in the August 1997 issue of The Christian Science Journal, which have given me insights I have never experienced before.
