Every long-awaited child,
each an Isaac, undefiled,
shouts joy begun in Sarah's smile.
Her laugh behind the tent-door's screen
startled submission, broke the dream,
redeemed her hope, repented her care.
Abraham showed her angels there.
Let us, too, receive as grace
the rebuke of Truth to unbelief,
sing out as strength the gentle word,
"Is any thing too hard for the Lord?" Gen. 18:14
