In A Greeting to Mary Baker Eddy from the Annual Meeting of her Church in 1905, members wrote the following about the Extension of The Mother Church: "We rejoice greatly that the walls of our new edifice are rising, not only to faith but also to sight; that this temple, which represents the worship of Spirit, with its inseparable accompaniment, the Christ-healing, is being built in our day; and that we have the privilege of participating in the work of its erection." The First Church of Christ. Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 23.
The Mother Church
plays an
ever-expanding
role in
responding
to today's
seekers.
Less than ten years after dedicating the Original Edifice, these members were expressing joy and gratitude over the need to accommodate the growing interest in Christian Science by providing a more expansive church building. Their focus was set squarely on how this new edifice would advance mankind in the worship of Spirit. Their actions have continued to bless many thousands of spiritual seekers with the promise of Christ-healing.
