I would like to share my gratitude and deep appreciation for the teachings of Christian Science. They have given me comfort, healing, and direction since I was a child. I am grateful to be able to look back over a period of years and see how God has guided me in and out of employment with such harmony.
During my senior year of college, I moved out of state to do a semester-long internship required for graduation. I expected to stay only a few months, but the agency offered me a job in a very unique and beautiful setting, so I stayed for almost a year. At one point in my job, it seemed to me that my supervisor began to expect more from me than from anyone else on our staff. I also felt a strong male chauvinist attitude from him. One evening I went home furious and frustrated about the unfair situation. I realized that since my human reasoning and pleas for fair treatment had not changed anything, I had to pray to heal the situation.
I spent the whole evening in prayer. When I woke up the next morning, however, I still did not feel at peace about the situation. So, I continued praying on my way to work. I began to say the Lord's Prayer. But I only got through the first two words, "Our Father...," when the healing took place in my thought. I realized that my supervisor and I were brother and sister, ideas from the same Parent, God, divine Mind; and that there could be no conflict between His ideas. It was so simple! I knew the healing was complete. I was happy and at peace.
