Poems

Homecoming

From the September 1999 issue of The Christian Science Journal

"Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations." Ps. 90:1.

Christ's healing influence
Comes to lift my heart
Above material sense and sadness.

It leads me to holy mount of God
Where I bow before Soul;
I listen.

"Be still, and know that I am God." Ps. 46:10.
"Be silent, O all flesh, before the Lord." Zech. 2:13.

Be silent, lie of life in matter.
Be still.

Heavenly winds blow.
Suffering sense departs,
Surrenders to Christly calm.

Angel truths descend
To cleanse my thought of cherished hurt
And bathe it in God's grace.

In morning light of Love
I look with child-eyes
To see all things made new
(A mortal past was never true) .

No ties of flesh
Bind God's beloved
To sickness, sin, or pain.

His sons and daughters,
All safe and pure,
Forever live in Spirit—
Dwelling of changeless love and joy,
Home of perfect peace.
