When I was preparing for the birth of our first child, I was informed that a problem existed, since the blood types of my husband and me included an Rh factor incompatibility, which was told could cause health problems for the child. This information was conveyed to the Christian Science practitioner treating me through prayer at the time. I was greatly reassured by this spiritual fact from Science and Health: "Man is not matter; he is not made up of brain, blood, bones, and other material elements" p. 475).
In our prayers, the practitioner and I reasoned that no law of matter concerning blood could interfere with God's perfect creation, which is perfectly intact, established, and governed by God, good. The medical pronouncement lost its power to frighten me, and at subsequent medical appointments no further mention was made of this medical concern. The baby was born free of any blood-related claim.
When our second child was expected, another medical doctor made note of this blood condition and stated that the second baby born under these conditions would most definitely experience a severe reaction, and that he would prepare for a transfusion at delivery time. Again prayer refuted this medical verdict. The completeness of the healing of our first child was firmly acknowledged as proof of God's perfect creation, including His perfect sons and daughters. Our prayers affirmed that God's harmonious creation was the truth for all His children. My husband and I prayed to see clearly that our child could not reflect anything unlike our Father-Mother God, who is wholly pure and good in every aspect. The child was not touched by this medical claim of incompatible blood types.
