God is right here with you and me

There was a turning point in the way she prayed.

From the January 2002 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Is God up in heaven, a long way off from us here on earth? That's what I thought when I was a child. I pictured God as a grandfatherly type, sitting on a throne up in the sky. When I needed help, I prayed, and then hoped for the best.

Surprisingly, I felt close to God, in spite of the distance I thought existed between us. As I grew older, though, that distance started to make a difference—so much so, that I stopped going to church and began seeking happiness from something other than what I then thought of as a God I couldn't see, hear, or touch.
