When I was born in a North Dakota hospital, my parents were gently told to take me home with a nurse. Nothing could be done to save my life, and it would be kinder for my mother not to have to wait at the hospital.
My parents did this, but they also located a Church of Christ, Scientist. They had attended one some years before and had heard testimonies of spiritual healings. Now they had no other place to turn. They contacted a Christian Science practitioner and asked for her prayers.
A few years ago, I passed a physical for my pilot's license, proving that the faulty heart—the problem with which I had been diagnosed as a child—had been healed, as well as other health-threatening physical conditions.
