Wiser and stronger

Spiritual qualities don't weaken over time.

From the January 2002 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Some Years Ago, after settling into the back seat of a New York City cab, I asked the driver, "How are you doing?" He replied, "Wiser and weaker." His comment left me asking myself, Is it true that with increasing years we may gain wisdom but lose the strength to make that wisdom productive? From this standpoint, life would seem an exercise in futility.

But is this really true? A psalm from the Bible says, "The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?" Ps. 27:1. And Christ Jesus said that eternal life was the evidence of God's deep love for His children: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16.

I began to see stamina more as a mental and spiritual quality that I derived from God.
