Over the last five months, momentum continues to build from the 2002 Annual Meeting & Conference of The Church of Christ, Scientist. The meeting explored three overarching messages: the universality of Christian Science; Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures as a resource for everyone; and Mary Baker Eddy's design for a Church to respond to today's demand for spiritual answers. Friends and members have been motivated by these ideas in their interactions with fellow seekers. Here are a couple of their inspiring examples.
I must tell you that I really didn't want to go to Annual Meeting. Being alone has been easier for me than being with a big group. The summer was fast approaching and mine was so full of activities and expenses that I thought it would be a burden to attend.
I was lovingly invited to attend a workshop for writers but I politely declined thinking my time would be better spent working at home. I was sent literature and e-mails encouraging me to consider coming to Boston in spite of my decision but there was no way I was going to leave for six days in the midst of my busy life. Still, loving encouragement kept coming my way. A dear friend who works at the Church Center said I could stay with her. Hotel accommodations were offered at a discount. Literature kept coming both in the mail and via e-mail telling of the preparations for this "special" event.
