No strings attached

God—not other people—impels us to act.

From the February 2002 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Ever feel as though other people (or things) control your life, pulling your strings as if you were nothing more than a marionette? With each tug—"Do this!" or "Do that!"—you jump. As if that weren't bad enough, all too often the tugs come from opposite directions. Yet, whether the "strings" that seem to dictate your life are tied to finances, family responsibilities, or work demands, you can gain control over your life by realizing where real motivation comes from.

How can you be sure it's God you're responding to?

The Bible teaches that God, who is always with us, is the one and only source of power and wisdom. He impels us. He's the One we need to respond to. But how can you be sure that it's God you're responding to when you have so many demands tugging at you?
