INTERVIEW

Spiritual healing: a conversation with Geoffrey Barratt

From the April 2003 issue of The Christian Science Journal

is a Christian Science practitioner and teacher, who divides his time between New York City and Sydney, Australia. As a former Editor of the Journal and the other religious magazines produced by The Christian Science Publishing Society, he has written over 425 articles on spirituality and metaphysical issues. Senior Staff Editor spoke with him at his apartment on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.

What's the key to successful spiritual healing of illness and other troubles people face?

In a word: spirituality. That's not too big a word, but it's a very big concept. And that's the primary thing. Now, as to what spirituality is? Well, basically I think it has to do with relating to the things of God, rather than to the things of material life. It has a lot to do with one's values—what is important and what is not. But on some level, I think it's a matter for individual definition. What spirituality is for me may not be quite the same as spirituality for somebody else.
