I was driving to Los Angeles on Highway 5—a narrow, two-lane strip of freeway—when I saw the front of a long truck edging into my lane. I realized that the truck's tail end was about to sideswipe my car.
I was safe in God's care.
At the time, I was listening to a recording of that week's Bible Lesson from the Christian Science Quarterly. It discussed the kingdom of God as a perfect, spiritual kingdom that includes everyone. Moments before this incident occurred, I had heard this passage from the Bible read on the tape: "For he is the living God, and stedfast for ever, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed, and his dominion shall be even unto the end" (Dan. 6:26).
