When Mary Baker Eddy founded the Journal, she said it would respond to questions from the public that were coming to her and her students. In that spirit, the Journal recently began this feature, in which we will answer questions that come from readers. There's more information at the end of the column on how to submit your questions. Here's this month's question — and answers.
I have only been studying Christian Science for a few months and find it difficult to know how to reach a point of "knowing the truth." What practical steps can I take in order to understand what Science is about? (I have turned to Christian Science because of a serious illness.)
To me, the message of Science and Health is about the gentlest love. Jesus said, "love each other, as I have loved you" (John 15:12, CEV). I think he loved people by seeing them as God sees them — as His children. This love, I believe, is the Christ, the Truth of God that comes to give comfort.
