Love is a mighty spiritual defense

From the August 2003 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Each time I arrive at my mainline train station on my commute home from London, the loudspeaker announcements ask us to take our rubbish home with us. All rubbish containers have been removed from central London streets, as well as from tube and train stations because of the terrorist threat.

It is easy to feel that such changes, and things like being searched in airline terminals, are infringements on individual freedom. Yet at times like this I am always grateful for another kind of freedom. That is the spiritual freedom that comes from knowing that God loves me and all people. This feeling of His love gives me great peace of mind and confidence that good, empowered by divine Love, can and does prevail, even in the face of terrorists and threatened loss of liberty.

Good, empowered by divine Love, does prevail.
