Following the example set by the question-and-answer columns in the early Journals, when Mary Baker Eddy was Editor, this column will respond to general queries—such as the one below. It will generally not cover questions about how to interpret statements in Mrs. Eddy's writings. There's more information at the end of the column about how to submit questions.
Q Why is spiritual healing so important in Christian Science?
A I've found that spiritual healing actually pertains to everyone. Here's why. First, every instance of healing brings proof that there are universal, spiritual laws at work in the universe. I think that regardless of whether or not one realizes it, there's a natural, divine influence in operation that reduces and removes disease when that influence is clearly understood. And that influence is the Christ-power, which Jesus applied so successfully.
