I'd Already Done the mental pros and cons list. I'd examined my motives and determined that this wasn't just some "follow the crowd" thing. But truth be told, I still felt torn.

My dilemma: Should I pierce a second hole in my ear, or not?

I'd been back and forth about it for days. Which wasn't like me. Normally I'm decisive. No-nonsense. Self-possessed. And my uncharacteristic indecisiveness was starting to annoy me. What's up? I wondered. Why all the hemming and hawing over something so insignificant?
