What people are saying about church services

From the April 2004 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I left Christian Science years ago for a variety of reasons. I was "out there," big time, on a spiritual journey, because spirituality was very important to me. I was on my way to becoming a minister. Then I had a family crisis. I had a lot of fear, and I realized that there were no answers out there for me at the churches I had been attending. I saw this little church [society at San Juan Capistrano], and was immediately welcomed in a very loving way. Everyone was friendly, embracing, nonjudgmental, accepting of where I was. There was laughter and freedom and support for my journey. It felt like a family to me. The fear and the crisis went away virtually overnight. I found healing.

I've been attending this church for many years, and there are things I still like about the days when we had our Wednesday meetings in the church, but these services in the Reading Room reach the communtiy better, so this is the best place for it now. There's a close-knit feeling that I like.
