I HAD JUST COMPLETED a three-day business trip to Jammu, India. On the eight-hour return trip, I suddenly developed symptoms of indigestion.
For the last 12 years I have depended on prayer and have experienced healings with many challenges—from asthma and allergies, to seasonal colds and fever. So I felt confident trusting prayer in this situation, too.
I began my prayers by focusing on God's perfection and therefore my present perfection as His spiritual idea. I also listened to hymns from audiocassettes of the Christian Science Hymnal, which I had carried with me. This gave me peace and comfort, but I still ate nothing and went right to sleep when I arrived home. Later that night, I awoke feeling very ill. I could not stand straight and felt very weak.
