This Christmas season the world yearns for peace—perhaps more than ever. Not only in war-torn countries around the globe, but every individual, no matter what country, no matter what religion or non-religion—every one seeks some kind of peace. Peace in individual lives, in families, at work. Harmony in relationships, in finances, in the world economy. And freedom from the oppression of sin and disease. Freedom from oppression of every kind.
So as we gather in our own ways to celebrate the birth of Jesus, what do Christian Scientists have to offer? What solace, hope, and promise do we bring to the Christmas table? We can start with our gifts of humility, of love, and of the light of healing. The light that Jesus so unwaveringly shone on humanity through his birth, life, ministry, and finally, his resurrection and ascension. That light that Mary Baker Eddy discerned nearly 150 years ago and named Christian Science. And our most hopeful and comforting gifts this season (and every season) are the irrefutable, powerful, and inspiring testimonies of Christian healing. The proof of Christian Science.
