The British magazine, The New Statesman, last year asked Christian Scientists in Cambridge, England, to recommend a writer who could contribute to their "Faith Column" on the magazine's Web edition. Tony Lobl, Christian Science practitioner and Committee on Publication for Greater London and District Manager for the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland, eagerly accepted the opportunity.
The magazine requested four blogs (short for "weblogs" or online diary entries) which would give a glimpse "... about the history of the faith, maybe how the person came to convert (if they weren't brought up in the faith), what celebrations/feasts there are, how the faith helps with modern life, etc. We want them to be personal but also with a lot of fact as people reading it may know nothing of that particular faith. It can be fun and light."
Here is the first of Tony's four blogs for Journal readers to enjoy. To read blogs by writers from other faiths, as well as all four of Tony's blogs online, go to www.newstatesman.com/blogs/the-faith-column.
