From the April 2008 issue of The Christian Science Journal

For New Englanders—especially those who live near one of the many ponds here—the crooning of the Canada geese flying overhead is a familiar sound. Vast numbers of these birds zoom across the sky in mighty squadrons, routinely covering thousands of miles on the north-south migration trail. Almost unbelievable, till you know their secret: the V-formation. Flying in this tight aerodynamic pattern, rotating the lead-bird position, these flocks can fly 70 percent farther, and more efficiently than if they were flying solo!

It's a lot like that with Church. As healers, you and I can accomplish so much more together than separately. There's incredible uplift, freedom, mutual support, safety, and spiritual power in travelling together in the grand design for Church that Mary Baker Eddy provided in the Manual of The Mother Church.

The Manual sets the course of the Christian Science movement, now and forever, to restore original Christian healing, as Jesus practiced it (p. 17). The whole book sustains us as Christian healers—and helps us support each other—to fly as united, strong, swift, flexible formation of healers. Each By-Law assumes that members are healers. That they want more than anything to utilize the theology in Science and Health to comfort and heal their world. And that they're on fire to share this Science of Christianity, because they're convinced that the eternal Principle of healing is accessible to everyone and can be applied successfully by anyone, universally.
