WHEN I WAS TEN YEARS OLD and an epileptic, my mother took me to three of the best specialists available at the time in London. The longest any of them gave me to live was two years, because they said my heart had been badly affected by the epilepsy.
Watching me dance at a dance class one day, my mother started crying. The mother of my best friend asked if she could help, and my mother replied that she could not believe that God would take away her daughter. This woman was a Christian Scientist. After talking a while, my mother agreed that she could take me the next Sunday to the local Christian Science Sunday School. Both my twin sister and I went. When we came home from Third Church, London, my mother asked us what we had learned. My twin told her all about it, but I could remember nothing.
However, the next Sunday I pleaded with my mother to let me go again, and from then on I attended regularly. Within a year I was completely free of epilepsy. This was confirmed by a doctor. I still have a healthy, active, and happy life—over 70 years later—and have enjoyed through all these years the study and practice of Christian Science, which has led to many healings.
