Letters & Conversations

LETTERS

From the October 2010 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The "CS 360" interview with David Robertson (Jeffrey Hildner, August Journal, p. 24) got to the core of our Master's and Mrs. Eddy's work and how to meet the needs of hungering humanity. It stressed the need to reject any sense of physicality and the need to deeply understand our true substance as spiritual. The interview gave heed to the necessity of changing the misperception of "body," yet identifying and owning our true indentities from a substantial standpoint as worthy expressions, as the children of God. The interview also clearly pointed out the expectation to see the body or situation correspond to the treatment with complete regeneration, and that this unselfed mental change leads to the realization of healing for all mankind. Mr. Robertson gave a clear overview of the expectation and realization of our work as Christian Science healers, and gave wise direction to each of us as to our responsibility in the "health care" system. The preventive care begins each morning with daily work that Mary Baker Eddy has laid out for us in her writings. Getting out in front, or the "spiritual 'feedforward'" by standing "porter at the door of thought" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 392); the effectiveness of the transparency of unselfed love; the idea of journaling through the journeys; along with the necessity of identifying each victory and sealing it at the end of each day, are pathways to our freedom and safety. Healing is the proof of our utility, and it is clear that God sends to each of us a continuous supply of ideas, and these are indeed our strong defense.

I was greatly helped by "A Conversation with David Robertson," published in the August issue of the Journal, a conversation between David Robertson, a Christian Science teacher, and Jeffrey Hildner, a senior writer for the Journal.
