From the October 2010 issue of The Christian Science Journal

How can I think spiritually when there are so many terrible things happening in the world? —FROM A CHRISTIAN SCIENCE PRACTITIONER WORKSHOP

A1 There's a good-news answer to this question. If you know how to think from a spiritual standpoint about difficult circumstances that arise in your own life, then you can pray and affirm the immediacy and effectiveness of God's love and truth for global situations. Why? Because the same laws of God apply to both.

The important thing is not to be overwhelmed by news of major incidents. A healer needs to remain unfazed—to stay mentally calm, spiritually poised. That's how Jesus responded in a crisis. He was rock-solid. He possessed a composed certainty that God is always in charge. He was confident that God is caring for the well-being of each of His children. Jesus' example encourages us as healers to respond to the news in like manner.
