THE SPIRITUAL TRUTHS of Christian Science, as discovered and shared with the world by Mary Baker Eddy, have been "a very present help in trouble" (Ps. 46:1) for me during my career.
Several years ago, while working on a project for a client, I was bitten behind the ear by an insect. There was swelling and pain. Later the same day, I cracked my elbow against a theatrical stage platform. Within a short period of time, I realized that the elbow was apparently dislocated. I couldn't move my arm beyond a 90-degree angle.
It was a very difficult predicament. The project work was intense and filled with pressure. A mishap or miscue at any time could have ruined things. Plus, several co-workers and the client remarked about the swelling behind my ear and encouraged me to get medical attention. Although I couldn't take time to step away just then, I immediately sensed that everything would be OK and I was able to reassure my co-workers that I would take care of the problem. All the work would get done and God was caring for me and the project. At that point, I was actually most concerned about the clients getting what they needed.
