YOUR INSIGHTS

From the November 2010 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In these pages we've gathered several shorter items— articles of less than a page in length and excerpts from longer manuscripts that offer useful, inspiring insights. We hope you enjoy this kind of short-form nourishment in each issue.

Some time ago, when England was going through a recession, it became apparent that my company would be unable to settle a large bill when payment became due. It was suggested that we approach our bank to request a temporary extension to our overdraft, but I did not feel that this would be the right solution. I spent some time praying with a Christian Science practitioner to know that I would be led to the right solution at the right time, and it came about in an interesting way.

Whilst driving to the office one morning listening to the weekly Christian Science Bible Lesson and getting some great inspiration and ideas for my Sunday School class, the sudden realization came that I was listening to the previous week's Lesson! At that point, these words from the Lesson were spoken, "Sir, come down ere my child die," and it became clear that the claim about my business was that it was subject to the cycle of birth, growth, maturity, and decay. I knew that this mistaken belief needed to be handled with prayer.
