Dear fellow finders of the pearl,
When youth have visions of someday being in the Olympics, this can be a wonderful dream. Let's say a young girl really wants to commit herself to being an ice skater who will eventually go to the Olympics and achieve recognition for her country. She realizes the sacrifices that will have to be made. She knows the arduous hours over many years that will have to be devoted to the rink. But she loves to skate, she loves expressing spiritual qualities that are represented in strength, agility, endurance, persistence, freedom. And all her conviction, effort, and discipline are rewarded.
How should society feel about this kind of love for an ideal? Most people would deeply admire such an undertaking, such determination, such steadfastness and faithfulness.
