ZUCCHINI BREAD and zucchini chocolate cake are just two recipes that home gardeners look to in order to use up all the zucchini that abounds during the growing season. This summer squash is so prolific that the harvest demands to be shared—with everyone at the office, at church, and in the neighborhood. The problem is that every garden in the area grows zucchini! No one ever thinks there could be a shortage. No one ever fears going without. There is always zucchini to be fried, baked, or shredded and added to a favorite recipe.
The glorious fullness of this humble squash hints at the nature of Love's abundance expressed through multiplication. Spiritual multiplication doesn't require any material aids—no seeds or watering necessary—but relies instead on spiritual ideas for its means of operation. Love's multiplication of good can actually revive and refresh our lives, and renew a sense of dedication to helping others.
We are not really increasing what is already there when we multiply spiritually. That's because divine Love already fills all space—it is infinite—so there can never be a shortage of Love's ideas. But we need to acknowledge present abundance, the abundance of good, before it can take form. With the realization that God, Mind, fills consciousness with pure and perfect ideas, we see actual multiplication of good on the human scene. Love also has variety, so where zucchini produces only zucchini, divine Love is expressed in myriad forms. When ideas are free of fear and limitation, they multiply—and this is seen by us as better health, an expanded sense of provision, the harmonizing of relationships, and powerful prayers for world.
