A SUNNY, NOVEMBER DAY at the University of North Florida (UNF) in Jacksonville—not a cloud in the sky. On the crowded plaza in front of the student union, singer-songwriter George Clements played his guitar and sang tunes encompassing spiritual themes. When he wrapped about 20 minutes later, Christian Science lectures Dave Stevens moved onto the plaza and spoke to the crowd about our spiritual identity and how it can be practical in student life. Then George returned for a short set, while Dave mingled with students and passersby, answering questions and expanding on ideas he touched upon in his talk.
That's how it went—back and forth—for almost three hours. It was part of Religious Awareness Week (RAW), a campus-wide event in its third year. A huge success, we reached 200 to 300 students, professors, and staff. But it couldn't have happened without the support and prayers of Fourth Church of Christ, Scientist, Jacksonville; the advisor; and TMC Youth in Boston.
