What's not to Love?

Discovering your spiritual worth

From the March 2011 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Would it be too much to assume that everyone at one time or another in their life has felt unworthy of God’s love? I sure have.

When I was a young girl, my family moved from a small town to a big city. I felt shy and out of place, my clothes weren’t the right style for my new school, my hair never cooperated with the hairbrush or the curlers, and I worried about belonging in a group of friends. Lots of people go through similar struggles with confidence.

Fortunately, my grandfather helped me feel good about myself. Pop, as we called my grandfather, was a Christian Scientist and a community leader in the city where he lived with my grandmother, about a four-hour drive from our home. He successfully owned and ran his own businesses. When we saw each other, Pop would make me smile by telling me how beautiful I was and then insist that God loved me.
