How can Christian Scientists reach newcomers while still following the outline of church services in the Church Manual? If people are new to Science, and love its teachings, I’ve found that they sometimes don’t love “being talked to” during church, so they continue going to their own church. At the same time, people who have grown up in Christian Science love the discussion part of Sunday School, but also may not be happy with the idea of how important listening is—to God, and to the ideas in the weekly Christian Science Bible Lessons. So what can we do to help reach everyone’s needs? —A reader in Michigan, US

A: One hour a week devoted to joining in a Christian Science church service seems a pretty good investment for the return. Insight, inspiration, and healing are the certain outcomes of watching and listening during that single hour.
