A healing Church

From the February 2012 issue of The Christian Science Journal

The fact that the founder of our Church, Mary Baker Eddy, came from a Puritan background means everything to me. She came from humble roots, with a firm grounding in the Bible. As a young woman she admired the ministers in her town for their knowledge of the Bible.

It was through her expectation of God’s shelter and care of His children, based on a spiritual understanding of the Scriptures, that our Church was founded. She loved the Bible so much that her most important work, Science and Health, together with the Bible, is the foundation of our Church.

Her understanding of the Scriptures moves thought forward and also enables us to appreciate the many congregations everywhere who turn to God. And it is for this expectation of all good and an appreciation of the Science of the Christ wherever it is found that I value the Church Mary Baker Eddy established. These are just a few of the reasons I am so happy to be a member.
