Being a member of The Mother Church makes me a party to a global healing force that reshapes traditional thought currents. What most hail as scientific certainty, we reject. Take, for instance, the idea that the structure of man isn’t comprised of molecular compounds but is idea-based. That makes Christian Science radical.
Being raised in it, you are inevitably reminded, “No one else is thinking like this!” That can happen when you are explaining a healing to someone not familiar with the religion, or putting into practice the specifics of Christian Science teaching during the healing process.
In my case, joining The Mother Church wasn’t a metaphorical bolt of lighting symbolizing the commitment of a lifetime, but was more by rote—like the youngest geese must feel the first time they fly south, following a pattern and not understanding why, only to discover later it was a matter of survival.
