Testimonies of Healing

Unnecessary to suffer a cold

From the March 2013 issue of The Christian Science Journal

One morning while vacationing in Maine, I awoke with all the symptoms of a cold. The Christian Science Quarterly Bible Lesson for the week was “Mortals and Immortals,” and I expected to receive inspiration from it to free me from this aggressive negative thought.

As I studied the citations from the Bible and Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, what clearly stood out to me was the scientific fact that God’s children are never born and they never die; and that Life, or God, and His Christ are the same yesterday, today, and always.

It made sense, then, that I was never born a mortal who was trying to become an immortal or a spiritual somebody. I was born spiritual, in God’s very own likeness, and could not for one instant have an illness or any imperfection. Therefore, a cold could have no start or finish, because it never had existence in infinite Mind, where all of God’s spiritual ideas, including me, reside.
