When I was in high school, I became very ill. I lost a great deal of weight, experienced hair loss, and had very little energy. Compounding the problem were frequent bouts of nausea and almost no interest in eating.
I grew up in a strong and supportive home, where Christian Science was practiced, and had already experienced many proofs of healing. So when the symptoms of illness appeared, it seemed only natural that my parents would call a Christian Science practitioner for spiritual treatment for me, which they did. I remember my parents talking over this course of action with me and thinking there was nothing else I’d rather do than rely on God.
I loved high school and wanted to be fully involved. However, having the stamina for the demands of each day was a tall order. My brothers and I read the Bible Lesson from the Christian Science Quarterly each morning with our mom and talked about ideas from it that we could apply to our day.
