JSH-Online update: Making every moment count

From the May 2015 issue of The Christian Science Journal

We all live busy lives. From running out the door to pick up a child from soccer practice, to dealing with a last-minute project at work, to helping a friend or family member in need, we all juggle multiple demands on our time. How do we give them all the attention and care they deserve?

It’s helpful to realize that, in addition to those quiet times we set aside for prayer, each moment of the day offers us the opportunity to turn our thought to God. Mary Baker Eddy writes, “One moment of divine consciousness, or the spiritual understanding of Life and Love, is a foretaste of eternity” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 598).

As we strive to attain these moments of spiritual clarity, the best preparation is to keep our spiritual storehouses full. We turn to our Pastor, the Bible and Science and Health, seeking guidance from God’s Word. We study the weekly Bible Lesson—a sermon that unifies and strengthens our prayers for ourselves and the world. We participate in church services that rouse and elevate our understanding, which brings healing. We look to articles and testimonies in our periodicals—The Christian Science Journal, the Christian Science Sentinel, and The Herald of Christian Science—to witness how others apply Christian Science in their lives today. Our metaphysical treatments for the world are supported and strengthened by The Christian Science Monitor.
