Testimonies of Healing

Pain from a fall healed

From the May 2016 issue of The Christian Science Journal

One winter day my family and I went for a short hike to an icy waterfall. Everyone wore crampons (metal plates with spikes) on their boots, because the path was snowy and icy. When we arrived at the falls, there was a stairway descending to the base of the falls. The stairway was covered in ice, and I decided to walk down first. When I took my first step, one of my crampons slipped off the heel of my boot and I immediately fell into a seated position, sliding down each step. My family saw this, but they could not reach me.

When I reached the bottom, I was in considerable pain. I sat there affirming that, as the beloved child of God, I was always safe from harm, and that God was with me right then. Before trying to get up, I took a few moments to declare and know the spiritual truth that Christ Jesus spoke of when he said, “Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32). This truth is the scientific fact that God is All-in-all, and that man is God’s image and likeness.

My family was concerned for my safety. I knew they were praying and affirming that I could never be separated from the love of God. I felt a bit lightheaded as I got up, so I sat down on the closest bench and continued to declare the truth. I prayed out loud that there are no accidents in God’s kingdom, because God is omniaction, and all action that proceeds from God is good. There was no power that could oppose God’s omnipotence.
