One summer morning I picked up my seven-year-old granddaughter to go to breakfast and then do some school shopping. On our way into the restaurant, she mentioned she’d had a “scratchy throat” the night before, and during breakfast she had trouble staying warm.
Given these symptoms, I asked her if she would rather go to my house and hang out for a while before going to the mall. She agreed, opting to postpone the shopping. Upon arriving at my house, she immediately got a pillow and blanket and sat on the couch.
When I sat down beside her to give her the glass of water she had requested, she cuddled up to me, and she was extremely warm to the touch. After a few minutes I suggested she lie down, and she went right to sleep. This gave me the opportunity to turn wholeheartedly to prayer.
