Spiritual Short

A church that radiates Love

From the September 2017 issue of The Christian Science Journal

“God is Love” (I John 4:8) is displayed on the wall in most Churches of Christ, Scientist—usually behind the Readers’ platform. In the Glossary of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy includes a definition of Church that begins by identifying it as “the structure of Truth and Love” (p. 583).

We are living the truth when we express divine Love by joining a branch of The Mother Church. It is a progressive step in one’s commitment to living the healing Science of the Christ. Church membership provides rich opportunities for serving God and our fellow man, and this nurtures our spiritual growth in the understanding and proof of God’s allness.

And as our churches truly express their identity as “the structure of Truth and Love,” people feel loved, cared for, and supported by a church family that is there for them.
