Peace and health restored after accident

From the April 2018 issue of The Christian Science Journal

I’ve loved this scriptural statement tucked into First Samuel: “The soul of my lord shall be bound in the bundle of life with the Lord thy God” (25:29). One translation of this verse is: “The Lord your God will keep you safe, as someone guards a precious treasure” (Good News Translation). As God’s children, we’re permanently bound in the bundle of Life—we are eternally God’s precious treasure! What a wonderful affirmation of man’s safety in Spirit, subject only to God’s law of life for His creation.

In autumn of 2012, I experienced this divine law of protection when I was in a multi-car collision on a busy expressway. Apparently, a driver was distracted and hit the car next to her, resulting in several cars and a tanker colliding while traveling at 70 miles an hour. My car was hit from all four sides. An 80,000-pound fuel truck crushed the rear of my vehicle.

After the impact, a stranger helped me out of the car and kindly remained with me. When paramedics arrived, I declined to be taken to a hospital and assured them it wasn’t necessary.
