“I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38, 39).
I’ve found that this Bible passage is a potent prayer and is very reassuring in hard times. It teaches us not to doubt or to fear, but to persevere and to have faith in God. Christ Jesus said, “I and my Father are one” (John 10:30). He showed us our oneness with God, and life in Christ, Truth. Paul, who wrote the passage about not being separated from the love of God, knew that our oneness with God could not be broken, and that we are planted in Christ.
In Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy writes, “There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter” (p. 468). Throughout Science and Health, she explains that there is no actual life outside of God, Spirit, and His Christ. Our reflection of divine Love, and the light of Christ, cannot be dimmed by mortal circumstances or material conditions.
