Continuing The Conversation

Gift-giving

From the December 2019 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Dear Reader,

“Christmas to me is the reminder of God’s great gift,—His spiritual idea, man and the universe …” (The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany, p. 262). So wrote Mary Baker Eddy about this time of year. As we prepare these periodicals for publication, we’re reminded of the great gift of all of you who’ve contributed in one way or another.

Thank you to those of you who wrote for us, wrote to us, or thought about writing. We’re grateful! We read every article, testimony, or poem submitted and every message sent. As for those of you who just thought about it, well, there’s always next year. Seriously, though, we’d love to hear from you!

Recently someone wrote to us with gratitude for an issue of one of our magazines. It was fun to hear how she had gone out and purchased a second copy to “tear out articles … and send to friends.” (We also appreciate how many of you regularly share articles via JSH-Online.com.) The writer mentioned that the articles were very relatable, had a “contemporary focus,” and “could meet the needs of people today.”

That’s music to our ears as we head into 2020. We look forward to the new year continuing to bring articles and podcasts with deep and relevant metaphysical insights written with authenticity and heart. We welcome candid language and topics that engage thinkers today.

During this season of peace, anyone hungry for answers to spiritual questions might welcome a gift subscription. I’ve been thinking about how the periodicals represent to me God’s “unspeakable gift” (II Corinthians 9:15) of the redemptive Christ that heals and saves all, everywhere. And I revel in the possibility of these magazines blessing an even broader audience of thinkers in years to come.

Blessings!
