One day years ago I became unconscious and was taken to a hospital. The medical staff told my family that severe blood poisoning was the problem and that I would most certainly be dead within 24 hours, as they had no way to save me.
A Christian Scientist friend came to my bedside in the hospital intensive care unit. As I was unconscious, I have no memory of that. However, she later said she stayed with me, prayed for me, sang hymns to me from the Christian Science Hymnal, and read aloud to me from the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy.
At the same time, my husband notified my Christian Science teacher, and she began praying for me. By the next morning my family was told that I would not die after all. But I remained in a coma for nearly three months, and when I came to, my muscles were not working. My teacher continued her prayerful treatment and even flew across the country once to visit me in the hospital. My friends and family also prayed.
