Several experiences in my life have taught me about loving unconditionally—acknowledging that everyone is God’s loved child. Here’s one example.
When they moved in, our new neighbors said we needed to take down our treehouse or they would do it, claiming the base of the tree was on their property. Furthermore, they cut down many trees on the several acres of woods behind their home to make a go-cart track. We had purchased our property to be able to enjoy the woods with its abundant wildlife and songbirds. Imagine our dismay at the unnatural racket coming out of those woods and our grief at the loss of our precious birds.
Ironically, some time later, the mother of the family felt compelled to call me daily to complain about another neighbor. I could barely keep from hanging up the phone to avoid these unpleasant calls that were filled with anger and swear words.
