Primitive Christianity, as Christ Jesus taught it, included a prayerful approach to problem-solving. Jesus’ healing prayers were based on an understanding of the power of God to help people in their times of need.
During the Master’s three-year ministry, he introduced a way of living that encouraged people to love others, help others, and do unto others as they would have done to them. His theology was based on the First Commandment, to have only one God—an Almighty God who created all, and to whom all things are possible. He taught people how to pray, and he demonstrated that this results in healing.
Habitually turning to God in prayer for healing is foundational to the practice of Christian Science. Since Mary Baker Eddy discovered it in 1866, Christian Science has proved to be very effective, and there is a well-documented record of its healing power in the “Fruitage” chapter of her book, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, and in the Christian Science periodicals, such as this one, since 1883.
