Pioneering is essential to Christian practice. Embracing the pioneering spirit in our efforts to understand and experience God, uplifts everything we do, and is at the heart of genuine progress. On the other hand, quite a few struggles grow out of being unaware of our role as pioneers. Let’s look at this fundamental concept, and then also look at its implications for hosting a lecture on Christian Science.
The purpose of Christian pioneering is grounded in the infinitude of God. God’s infinite nature means that God’s goodness is both complete now, and always unfolding to us in an endless variety of new forms. So, to be living a Christian life includes regularly discovering something new about God and what God is causing throughout creation. And, as Jesus modeled, it means living out from these standpoints in what we think and do.
This ongoing discovery is propelled by an unquenchable desire to experience more godliness. What we discover satisfies us and inspires spontaneous gratitude, even while it impels us to seek what’s over the horizon.
