In the Bible, we find a letter from Paul encouraging Christians to “pray without ceasing” (I Thessalonians 5:17). So, while at times it’s essential to “be still, and know that I am God” (Psalms 46:10), we can also pray while walking, driving, working, running, playing, and so on. The speed of human activity is no accurate measure of or impediment to God’s intimate ability to communicate to His beloved creation! Nor can it increase or diminish the ability of God’s children to hear, reflect, and witness our shared Father-Mother.
I love to pray, and I love to play pickleball—often at the same time. Many years ago, in prayer, I actually asked God why I liked sports so much. The answer? “Because you see Me there.”
The supremacy of Spirit that Christ Jesus emphasized in his teachings must extend to all things, including athletic activity.
