In the 1920s, my parents were vacationing with my two sisters and me in the Catskill Mountains in upstate New York. They were looking for a place to spend the night and saw a sign for a guesthouse, where they decided to stay. That night at the group dinner table, my mom was not eating much. A kind lady next to her noticed and asked why. My mother said she had ulcers. The lady invited her to come to her room after dinner, and my mom accepted her offer.
The lady read from the Bible and a book called Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. My mother was very interested and liked what she heard. She slept well that night, felt well in the morning, and ate a good breakfast.
My sisters and I were enrolled in Sunday School and enjoyed hearing about Jesus’ healings.
